Frozen Birdbath

Soon after finishing the Hummingbird bath, my wife said she wanted another one to take it's place.  So off I went to the workshop and came up with the bird bath.  I  hammered a base with flowing lines on the exterior and pattern of rocks on the copper base for three fountains to come up from.  The leaf pattern was designed for the water to fall from the top into the next one down and then again.  This provided a much quiter and distinct sound.  The birds and Humming birds love it.  It still sits on the front deck and gives us hours of pleasure.

Pleasure Point, is located on the Santa Cruz side of the Monterey Bay Sanctuary.  Very rarely do we get hard frosts or temperatures low enough to freeze water.  This last winter we had those conditions on two different occasions.  Here is what happened to the fountain as a result of the freezing temperatures on a slow moving fountain.

Description:  Exterior glazed pot sealed with a silicone sealer on the inside.  Hammered copper base with three fountains and petals arising from it.  Water drips from one to the other and in a strait stream to the basin.  Electrical cord is run through the bottom of the pot and sealed with silicone.

Dimensions:  18" diameter and 16" tall exterior glazed pot.  Fountain extends another 16" to top of petal.

All sculptures are unique.  The picture above represents what yours may look like when it is completed especially for you.
